In preparation for this event, I suggest a few measures be taken:
1. Have your mom ensure that your favorite hidey-hole (in the closet, under the bed, in the linen cupboard, under the couch) is clean and well stocked with your distraction of choice, i.e., toys, your Gizzy, 'nip in some form.
2. For those of you who believe that "Better living through chemistry" is the way to manage these distresses, have your favorite mood-enhancer, hallucinogen, or knock-out drops to hand, er, paw.
3. A well-stocked feeding station: fresh water, copious amounts of your favorite crunchie or kibble, all the Stinky Goodness you could possibly need to assuage those anxious feelings and perhaps some HAM, real live dead shrimps and/or chick-hen. (preferably AND).
Do be prepared to remain in your refuge for some days. Beans tend to celebrate rather enthusiastically and may return home exhausted, sun-burned, inebriated, irritable and/or sick. (probably AND).
It can take a day or two or five for them to recover and begin taking notice of the world around them-which includes you-and you must be properly fortified against that time.
Now, having completed all your preparations, just sit back and relax. It's coming and there's nothing we can do about it. Except come out on the other side well-fed and well-rested. ::gloat::

PeeEssWoo: I like getting to look at your tail end!
Angus...dude....you did a great job of listing what we should do to be prepared for the dreaded weekend to come! WE DON'T LIKE ALL THAT NOISE!!! We will go and tell Mommy to make all the preparations!
Thanks!!!
Sam I Am....not in trouble...but Sassy was...come and see!
Angus, Meowm says that after reading your instructions, she may just go into hiding with us!
Or you could be a pug and not have any of these problems. ha ha
Roxy
PS Mom thanks you for your sarcasm. It was quite enjoyable.
Those are very good suggestions! We don't hear many pop's and cracks close to us. They are further off ans sound more like thunder.
I'd say you've covered just about everything, Angus. We 4 will be hiding out in the bedroom when all the noise starts.
Good advice! We plan to stay home and avoid the worst of the noise. Of course, there are always some jokers who toss noisy flares in the neighborhood but we're inside so we ignore them. But we like your suggestion about the ham and shrimp AND... Jan is oblivious to such hints.
Hmm... my humans don't go anywhere on the 4th... We have a few in our cul de sac which we watch but those happen early (kids). I shall only hide for a short time.
We hads sum booms in our area but dey isnt dems type. We dun fink we is goin to has many fire cracker booms wif all da rain we is gettin.
That's some good advice, Angus! We usually have lots of them going off all around us, and we are very worried that since the 4th is on a weekend this year it will be extra-bad ::shivers::
That sounds like a very comprehensive list of precautions. We don't mind the boomers much, but Camie hates them. She is the one Mom worries about the most.
Tavi, Cody, Camie, Miss Jade and Gracie
We hate the boomers!!! So we're gonna take your advice, Angus, and stay undercover until it's all over with!
Ha, all fireworks are illegal in our nayborhood. Last year daddy shined his spotlight on dem stoopid kids (and adults) who where out der shooting dem off. His spotlight is very bright and maded dem run away.
Great post, Angus! The fireworks and firecrackers have already started here. Even when I got mom up at 0300 - there was someone shooting them off THEN!
Play bows,
Zim
The bad noises have already started in our neighborhood. We don't like them much, but the woofies get really scared - especially Cliffie.
Thanks for those great tips.
Sniffie and the Florida Furkids
Great suggestions, Angus. Gandalf will be spending most of the weekend under Grampy's chair. Me and Mom will be curled up watching an old movie. Fireworks have never bothered me.
~Grayson
We get most of our boomies in November, but we don't get them close to us. I like to watch them from the window in the distance out over the river. Flynn hides under the covers.
Eric
Good advice, Angus!!! Phantom won't be a happy boy with all that noise, but I don't mind it at all. Guess that's why my name is Thunder.
woos, Thunder Dunder
Excellent plan!
Living near an Army post we hear booms all day long.. So Mom is hoping that firecrackers don't bother us.. But she still has our spots all ready!
hat is some great advice Angus!! Thanks!! Silly Maverick & Mr. Tigger are not bothered by the noise!! Just me!!
Your FL furiends,
Thank you for that important advice. I get real bothered by noise, and will be hiding under big sister's bed!
LOL Angus! Fireworks are illegal in my state so we don't have to worry about things like that.
Huffle Mawson
Check! will take notes! and make the bean obey them!
Thanks. Wish mama had done better preparations for our neighborhood event a couple of weeks ago. Included very close fireworks....
I think we're as ready as we'll ever be! Locked down, doors and windows closed, airconditioning on...Tour de France on the TV. If it gets to be too much, we have lots of hidey holes.
We don't like the boomies, but poor Diamond - he barks so much that we all get stressed. I think better living thru chemicals is what he needs...
AC on, TV on, closet corner prepared. I think I'm ready.
Most excellent advice!
~ The Bunch
Excellent advice, Angus. I hope that you are secure and enjoying yourself as much as possible.
