Somethin' To Rest My Bruised Dignity Upon

Once upon a time, in a Cottage far, far away, there lived a Mancat who loved to sit in the window and watch the werld go by. Specifically, he loved to watch the sparrows and dove and house finches and the occasional robin go by. Anyhoo, the Mancat had nought but a wee, narrow window ledge upon which to perch his rather large bum (MOM!) and was therefore prone to falling off. This falling off jazz caused him to bruise both his dignity and his bum. His mom, who loved him most dearly, felt sorrow at his plight and made the long and arduous journey to the land of PetS mart, where she plunked down all her munnies for this:

The Mancat, who was using his "bruised dignity" for all it was worth, prevailed upon her incessantly and with constant wailing (I do NOT wail.) to erect his new environs speedily and without delay. She, out of the very goodness of her Mancat-lovin' heart, did so, lest his persistent caterwauling rupture her tympanic membranes.

The Mancat, on testing his new perch for the very first time, sniffed delicately at the cushy fleece and prodded the eggcrate foam beneath. He then plopped his rather wide bohunkus upon it and looked with eager expectation out his window, for:
